A Tutor-Marked Assignment is written work your course tutor grades during the semester, usually one or two per course, labelled TMA01 and TMA02. The mark feeds your continuous assessment score.
Unlike a quiz or a computer-marked task, a human tutor reads your answer against a rubric. The same facts can earn very different marks.
Most briefs ask you to appraise, evaluate or propose, in continuous prose with citations. Short answers lose marks.
Your assignment marks build the continuous assessment side, and that side carries its own minimum of forty.
“Appraise how well the approach has been designed and implemented.”
Appraise means judge. The marks sit in whether it worked, on what evidence, and where it fell short.
“Word limit 1,500 words, excluding references.”
Check whether a 10% allowance applies. Some SUSS briefs grant it in writing and others state plainly that there is none.
“Submit one MS Word file by 2355 hours.”
One file, Word, before 11:55pm. Canvas records the time it receives, not the time you clicked.
“Cite at least three academic sources in APA 7th.”
Referencing is a scored section. Briefs commonly put five to ten marks on citation alone.
Because it lands in the middle of a working semester, with no revision week to protect it. The job, the family and the reading are all still running.
Part-time students at SUSS describe losing most of their weekends for a semester, and three to four evenings for a single submission.
Students only half-joke that the letters stand for self study. With a handful of seminars, you work out what the module wants on your own.
A rubric that gives eighty marks to content and ten each to language and referencing tells you where the marks are.
Citation conventions have moved on and academic phrasing feels foreign. That gap is a writing problem, and it closes with feedback.
Between roughly eighteen and thirty per cent of the course mark, set per course rather than by a single university rule. Two-assignment courses run at twenty per cent each.
| Course | Assignments | Weighting as published | Word limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| COM376 Strategic Social Media Management | TMA01 and TMA02 | 20% each, with an exam at 50% | 1,600 maximum each |
| ABS105 Everyday Sociology | TMA01 | 30% of the course mark | About 1,200, excluding references |
| PSY107 Introduction to Psychology 1 | TMA01 and TMA02 | 20% for TMA02 | Stated limit, no 10% allowance |
| BUS105 Statistics | One assignment | 20% of the course mark | Set in the brief |
| MKT365 and MKT366 | One assignment | 18% of the course mark | MKT366: one page, excluding references |
| HRM333 Performance Management | One assignment | 45% of the continuous assessment score | 1,500 for Q1, plus a 10% buffer |
HRM333 publishes its figure as forty-five per cent of the continuous assessment component, not of the final grade.
Find the sentence that names the percentage. Of the course means your final grade. Of the continuous assessment means you divide by that component's weight.
OCAS is your Overall Continuous Assessment Score. OES is your Overall Examinable Score. SUSS requires forty in each, separately, and the final grade is a weighted average set per course.
72
Assignments, quizzes, discussion-board participation. Earned across the semester, so still in your hands today.
Cleared34
The exam, an end-of-course report, a presentation or a dissertation. Decided on one occasion.
Below the minimumYes. SUSS applies a multiple-hurdle rule, not a compensatory one. A high continuous assessment score cannot rescue an examinable score below forty.
SUSS publishes two different floors, and the gap decides whether a failed course can be re-sat or must be repeated.
Fifteen is the re-sit floor and forty is the pass floor. A very low examinable score is a different problem from a near miss.
Content carries most of it. SUSS briefs commonly split one hundred marks as eighty for research and content, ten for language and structure, and ten for referencing.
80
Whether you judged, evaluated or proposed as instructed, supported it with evidence, and reached a position. A descriptive answer sits low in this band.
10
Paragraphs that each make one point, signposting a marker can follow, and clean prose. Formatting slips are deducted here.
10
In-text citations matched to a correctly formatted list, in APA 7th. Mechanical, and the band most often thrown away.
Describe or outline
Report accurately. Rare as a main verb, and never the whole answer.
Appraise or evaluate
Reach a judgement on quality or effectiveness, and show the evidence.
Propose or recommend
Commit to a course of action, justify it, and say what it costs.
One SUSS brief states it plainly: answers that merely reproduce information from any source, including generative tools, will be heavily marked down.
Take any paragraph that reports what happened and add two sentences: one naming the cause, and one saying what follows. That is what the content band pays for.
The organisation introduced quarterly reviews in 2024 and set individual targets. Managers received a half-day briefing. Staff completed a year-end feedback survey.
Three true statements, none of which tells the marker what you think.
The organisation introduced quarterly reviews in 2024 but gave managers only a half-day briefing, leaving the system dependent on untrained judgement. The year-end survey recorded low confidence in review fairness, so the problem is manager capability.
Mechanism, evidence, implication, and a conclusion the recommendation can act on.
SUSS briefs allocate citation its own scored band, commonly five to ten marks out of a hundred. Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
Yes, with declaration. SUSS permits generative tools provided every AI-assisted element is acknowledged and referenced. The work must still represent your own understanding, and tutors may add stricter rules.
SUSS warns that these tools produce confident errors and biased framing, and places responsibility for accuracy on you. Library guidance suggests citing AI output as a personal communication.
Our position: we do not disguise machine-written work or help anyone get past a detector. We help you write an answer that is yours.
Your submission is scanned for plagiarism, collusion and the use of generative tools. SUSS publishes no safe similarity percentage.
Unlike universities that let students self-check, SUSS keeps the report with the marker. You cannot read a number and adjust before the deadline.
A high score made of correctly cited quotations is not misconduct. One uncited borrowed paragraph is. Markers read what matched.
Where a marker suspects work is not entirely a student's own, SUSS may call an oral examination to verify authorship.
The cut-off is 2355 hours, written as 11:55pm, and the time that counts is the one Canvas records. Upload a single Word file through the Turnitin link from a computer.
You can usually resubmit before the cut-off. Where a brief allows it, upload a rough version early and replace it later.
A long platform outage can extend the window. SUSS allows for technical failures lasting more than six hours, not for a slow evening.
SUSS allows twelve hours after the cut-off with no penalty, then deducts ten marks for every twenty-four hours. No tutor can waive it.
What the scheme covers. Assignments, group work, case studies and end-of-course assessments. Quizzes, computer-marked tasks, discussion boards and laboratory reports sit outside it.
Why a careful 70 beats a rushed 60. Another day of work costs ten marks, and the careful version still wins.
It varies by course, and the brief decides. Some SUSS briefs grant a ten per cent allowance in writing, others state explicitly that there is none. Published limits range from one page to three thousand words.
Look for the phrase next to the number: excluding references, including references, or no allowance. One SUSS brief required references inside the count for the first assignment and no citations at all for the second.
A tight answer scores better than a padded one on an eighty-mark content band. The surplus is usually description.
The conclusion is where your judgement lives, and judgement is what the rubric pays for. Trim the background instead.
Pick the point you are actually at: nothing yet, a draft to mark against your rubric, settled content needing language and references, or a full model answer.
We read the brief with you, translate the command verbs, and leave you with an outline you can write from tonight.
A full model answer built on your brief and rubric, with real sources, walked through with you afterwards.
Marked against your own rubric band by band, with comments where marks are being left on the table.
Language, flow, formatting and APA 7th, trimmed to the word limit. We leave your argument alone.
Assignments are the default continuous assessment across SUSS, so coverage follows the schools. Below are the courses we are asked about most often.
Statistics and quantitative courses need workings and interpretation. Management courses need judgement. We match the writer to the brief.
These courses lean hardest on APA 7th and on evidence-led argument. That is where a correct answer and a well-argued one part company.
Reflective and applied writing, where the brief wants your practice reasoning rather than a summary of the reading.
Code, output and analysis have to agree, and the marks usually sit in the interpretation.
We match your TMA by subject and deliverable, never by availability. See all experts.

"This one deserves five stars. They helped me build my startup pitch assignment from scratch. Felt like I had a co-founder working with me. Efficient, friendly, smart."
"Wasn't sure what to expect at first, but wow… their help was super friendly and clear. Guided me on how to handle case studies on elderly care and made sure I included empathy."
"I don't usually write reviews but this one deserves it. Really solid help. They explained everything from GDP to fiscal tools in easy terms. Scored higher than I expected!"
"Super chill and understanding team. They gave me tips on how to relate HR theories to my work examples. So down-to-earth and helpful."
You pay for the part you actually need. Explaining a brief costs less than writing an answer.

A Tutor-Marked Assignment is written work graded by your course tutor during the semester, labelled TMA01 and TMA02. You submit one Word file through Turnitin on Canvas.
Published SUSS briefs range from about eighteen to thirty per cent of the course mark. Some state the figure as a share of your continuous assessment score instead.
OCAS is your Overall Continuous Assessment Score, from assignments, quizzes and participation. OES is your Overall Examinable Score. Your grade is a weighted average, set per course.
Yes. SUSS applies a multiple-hurdle rule rather than a compensatory one, so you need forty in the continuous assessment component and forty in the examinable component separately.
2355 hours, written as 11:55pm. The time that counts is the one Canvas records. The Canvas mobile app is not supported, so use a computer.
SUSS allows a twelve-hour grace period with no penalty, then deducts ten marks for each twenty-four hours. Once deductions exceed fifty marks the submission is assigned zero.
Yes, with declaration. SUSS permits generative tools provided the use is acknowledged and referenced, and asks you to state the tool, the prompts, the output and what you adapted.
Yes. Submissions are scanned through Turnitin for plagiarism, collusion and the use of generative tools. Where a marker has doubts, SUSS may call a viva voce to verify authorship.
SUSS does not publish one, so any specific percentage you see quoted is somebody's guess. The report is released only to markers, so you cannot check your own.
APA 7th edition across the briefs we see. It is usually a scored band, commonly worth five to ten marks, so match every citation to a reference entry.
It depends on your brief. Some SUSS briefs grant a ten per cent buffer in writing and others state explicitly that there is no allowance.
SUSS sets two different floors. Re-sit eligibility generally requires a continuous assessment score of at least forty with an examinable score of at least fifteen.
Guidance, teaching, draft feedback and editing are the same kinds of support a tutor or writing centre gives, and they are the bulk of what we do. Uploading to Canvas stays with you.
It depends on the module, the word count, how much is already done and how soon you need it. You get a fixed quote in writing.
